Effective July 1, 2006, sponsors of large defined benefit plans (500 or more participants) must file PBGC premiums electronically for plan years beginning on or after January 1, 2006. All other defined benefit plan sponsors will be required to electronically file PBGC premiums for plan years beginning on or after January 1, 2007. Plan sponsors may go to the “Practitioners” page of the PBGC’s website,
http://www.pbgc.gov/, and click on the
“Online Premium Filing (My PAA)” link to obtain more information or to set up an account.
